The design concept of the Spiritual Monument is derived from the circumpunct symbol, by implementing its physical form and its philosophical meanings throughout the design. The circumpunct symbol is a dot inside a circle representing a creator of the universe and the unity of all religions praying for the deity. The circumpunct is regarded and used as sacred geometrical form due to its usage throughout history in religious symbolism, architecture, and in the natural world. The design concept of the Spiritual Monument will act as an abstract journey through space, where one can eventually reach the center of the spiral.
The design of the Light Dwell consists of three main spaces; Semi Private Meditation Area, Meditation area and a reading area. All spaces will be located adjacent to the center of the monument, which will function as a focal point of the space, acting as a light well, allowing light to flow into the monument; highlighting the power of Nature.
The Design consists of two structural methods; Permanent structure vs. temporary structure. The permanent structure is the element in the middle; “The dot” representing the monument to the creator, which everything else rotates around. It is constructed from local brick; a strong material they use to build their huts. The temporary structure; which is everything that flows around “The dot”, resembles the temporary earth beings. It is made from local wood logs creating the spiral flow around the deity.
